Abu Ibrahim (IB) is an Arts Council England–endorsed poet and spoken word artist. His work has appeared in Ink, Sweat & Tears, African Writer Magazine, Kalahari Review, The Belfast Review, Causeway Magazine by Aberdeen University Press, Barren Magazine, The Mersey Review, Brittle Paper, Ink in Thirds, The Turning Leaf Journal, and elsewhere.

He has performed at the Pa Gya Literary Festival, the Global Poetry Meet organized by Poets of Bangalore, Say It Out, Lagos Talks Town Hall Meetings, the Lagos International Poetry Festival, the Nigeria National Chess Championship, the Lagos Book and Art Festival, Mud Art Festival, Quramo Festival of Words, and other notable events.

IB is a Best of the Net nominee, the winner of the 2024 Poetry Journal Prize, the 2024 Augur’s Micro-Fiction Contest winner (for poetry category), Ink Sweat & Tears Pick of the Month for July 2024 winner, and the recipient of the Album of the Year award at the 2023 Port Harcourt Poetry Festival for his debut poetry album “Music Has Failed Us”, available on all major streaming platforms. This body of work was also considered for nomination at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

In 2023, he received the Lagos State University Debate Society Impact Maker Award for Storytelling and Outstanding Impact. He is a former Editorial Intern at Ink, Sweat & Tears and also served as a non-voting judging panellist for the 2025 Jhalak Prize. Ibrahim is the 2026 poetry judge for the Bournemouth Writing Prize, organised by Bournemouth University.

IB also works with brands and individuals as a creative director, brand strategist, writer and editor. He is also a passionate photographer.
